Daniel Briere sounds off on Carter Hart controversy.
Daniel Briere is addressing the elephant in the room after his goaltender went private on social media.
The Philadelphia Flyers found themselves mired in controversy this week when, seemingly out of nowhere, goaltender Carter Hart removed the Flyers from his bio on social media and put his account in private mode.
Some had speculated that this was a sign that Hart would soon be on the move via a trade, but it may have been too quick to jump to those kinds of conclusions. Recently, Flyers general manager Daniel Briere faced the media following the controversy and answered questions regarding Hart's bizarre decision, with Briere largely downplaying the entire situation.
According to Eric Engels, who had the chance to speak with Briere, there is nothing to Hart's decision to remove the Flyers from his social media. Briere said that he personally spoke to Hart himself and that, as of now at least, he expects that Hart will be ready for training camp and will be ready to play for the Flyers in this upcoming National Hockey League season.
From Engels:
Regarding Carter Hart privatizing his Instagram+removing the Philadelphia Flyers from the account, GM Danny Briere says there's nothing to it, that he talked to Hart, who's excited for this coming Flyers season, and that, as of now, he expects him to be at camp and ready to go.
The Flyers now find themselves in the middle of a rebuild and no one would be surprised to learn that the 25 year old Hart would prefer to be on a team with a realistic chance of competing for a playoff spot. That being said Hart has thus far played all 201 of his NHL games as a Flyer and it sounds like Briere expects him to continue that trend this season.
