Earlier this month, it was reported that Philadelphia Flyers interim GM Daniel Briere’s oldest son Carson was seen tossing a wheelchair down a flight of stars at a party and now faces potential criminal punishment. He is also banned for life from the pub where the disturbing incident took place, and owners have made it clear they will contact authorities if he comes back on scene.

On Tuesday night, as the Montreal Canadiens were in Philly to take on the Flyers, Briere was a guest on RDS to answer questions about his new role in French. However, he was caught off guard when the host Pierre Houle asked him about his son’s actions and the impact it had on him as he was named interim GM at the same time. It is easy to tell that Briere isn’t all that comfortable with the question and wishes to quickly move on, though he did answer that Carson had learned a lot and was regretful, and that his actions did not reflect the Briere’s family values.

This is the interview in French from RDS:

When the video of Carson tossing a wheelchair down a flight of stars at a party went viral, Brier had reacted to his son’s unacceptable actions, stating: “I was shocked to see Carson’s actions in the video that was shared on social media yesterday. They are inexcusable and run completely counter to our family’s values on treating people with respect. Carson is very sorry and accepts full responsibility for his behavior.”

He had the time to prepare a statement, but was clearly caught off guard on live television when asked to react some more to the incident.

Briere did manage to answer properly and we sure hope that he also found the right words when he faced his son.
