Former Flyers first round pick Cutter Gauthier receives brutal chants from fans in Philadelphia.
Call me crazy, but I just don't think that fans in the city of Philadelphia are quite ready to forgive former Philadelphia Flyers first round pick Cutter Gauthier just yet.
On Saturday night, the Flyers welcomed the Anaheim Ducks to the Wells Fargo Center in the city of Brotherly Love and for many fans it would seem that meant an opportunity to get a few things off their chest. Those things all of course stemmed directly from the fact that Gauthier effectively forced the Flyers to trade him to the aforementioned Ducks before he ever played a single game in a Flyers jersey, a decision that will likely follow Gauthier for some time during his career in the National Hockey League.
Gauthier was eventually traded with the main part of the return for the Flyers coming in the form of defenseman Jamie Drysdale, and the fans at the Wells Fargo Center were quick to remind Gauthier of that fact. Just minutes into the game Gauthier was treated to chants of "Jamie's better!" over and over from the crowd.
In fact from the moment the Ducks hit the ice for warmups chants of "F*** you Cutter!" could be heard loud and clear throughout the building.
Another angle from the crowd:
Those chants have continued, even several minutes into the game:
While I'm sure Gauthier isn't a big fan of the chants it is honestly great to see fans doing their part in creating rivalries on the ice and I have no doubt that the loud and persistent chants have had at least some measure of psychological impact on the players on the ice, one way or another.
