Can the Florida Panthers go at it again for a second consecutive offseason? Last summer, the Panthers pulled off the best trade of the campaign when they acquired and signed star forward Matthew Tkachuk to a hefty contract - and let’s not forget - the guy led them to the Stanley Cup final.
And so, why not attempt something like it again. This comes from former NHLer and Spittin Chiclets podcast co-host Paul Bissonnette would started the rumour that Florida should play big again this offseason by offering captain Aleksander Barkov to the Ottawa Senators in order to reunite Brady Tkachuk with his older brother Matthew down South!
This is crazy - that’s why it is headlined that way - because nothing shows that the Panthers and GM Bill Zito are looking to make such a transaction this summer. However, if we had told you last July that Florida would send Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar to the Calgary Flames in return for Matthew Tkachuk, you would have also called it crazy. Let’s hear Bissonnette explaining why he has come up with this crazy monster trade rumour in Florida:
Could you imagine Brady and Matthew Tkachuk on the same roster?! It would be such a great chemistry on the ice, no doubt. And I can already picture father Keith in the stands, cheering them on and throwing his favourite hat on the ice whenever one or the other scored a hat trick.
Let’s dream!
