The National Hockey League may soon be dishing out another suspension for a hit to the head in the month of October.

This latest incident comes to us courtesy of Buffalo Sabres defenseman Connor Clifton, who on Friday night took out New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier with a hit to the head during the first period. The hit would result in a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for Clifton who reportedly had a large number of family in attendance for the game.

Not only is getting tossed from the game in the first period a great way to disappoint those who attended the game in an effort to support you, but Clifton is now facing additional discipline from the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety.

According to an official announcement from the league, Clifton will have a hearing on Saturday which is likely to result in a potential suspension of the 28 year old blue liner.

The NHL has already handed out a hefty suspension for a hit to the head earlier this month when it slapped Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson with a 4 game ban. The hit from Clifton did not appear as predatory as the hit from Anderson, so I expect he will likely be looking at considerably less time off than Andersson received.
