Connor Bedard rocked by high hit in the first period.

Blackhawks star Connor Bedard was furious after he took a head shot on Saturday afternoon.

Chicago Blackhawks star forward Connor Bedard wasn't happy about this one and I suspect that the Blackhawks and their fans won't be too thrilled about it either.

Bedard and the Blackhawks took on the Calgary Flames on Saturday afternoon and, during that game's first period, Bedard was on the receiving end of a questionable hit from Flames forward Martin Pospisil.

Bedard was playing a loose puck along the boards and had his body leaning forward as he did so, leaving him vulnerable to Pospisil who appeared to have lined him up from the moment he touched the puck. Unfortunately it did look as though Pospisil's hit caught Bedard up high and to the head, and you could tell by the reaction from Bedard on the ice that he felt he should have received a call from the National Hockey League's officials on the ice.

Here's a look at the replay:

As I mentioned the Blackhawks are no doubt quite unhappy about how that all transpired and they showed as much when Blackhawks veteran Nick Foligno did his best to get Pospisil to answer for the hit. Foligno would challenge Pospisil to drop the gloves in response to the hit on Bedard, but Pospisil declined to fight Foligno and simply skated away from the potential confrontation.

There are of course two more periods of play remaining in this one so it remains to be seen whether or not the Blackhawks will once again look to extract a measure of revenge on Pospisil or if this situation will simply end here. The Flames have taken an early 2-0 lead in the first so I wouldn't be surprised if we see some fireworks from the Blackhawks in this one as the game progresses.
