Something needs to happen for the Edmonton Oilers, but it sounds like that won’t happened today. After falling to the worst team in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks getting a 3-2 win on Thursday night, the Oilers need to do something and a lot of fans and pundits were hoping for a coaching change. However on Friday, team insider Ryan Rishaug of TSN reported that his sense “is there won’t be any movement on the coaching front today with the Oilers.”

After last night’s loss, Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft was asked about his job security. But the bench boss claimed he is not worried about it.

“No, I worry about taking care of my daily business and my daily process, and making sure that I give my players something to focus on and concentrate on,” Woodcroft said. “No one’s happy with where we’re at. We all own it.

“We can [be] better, and that’s where my focus is.”

Maybe that’s why Woodcroft wasn’t worried, possibly aware that a coaching change was not in the cards on Friday.

Rumours have also emerged that Edmonton could be looking at a trade with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman saying on Friday that the Oilers were reportedly “on the precipice of a big move”, and talks could pick back up soon.

“I don’t know what happened… but I had people say to me, watch the Oilers in goal, they’re up to something, and they weren’t talking about Campbell.”

The Oilers will travel to Seattle on Saturday to face the Kraken and it seems it will be with Woodcroft in tow.

Something has to happen in Edmonton, but Rishaug believes it won’t be on Friday…
