Early on in the goings on in Game 1 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning last night we had some pretty significant fireworks.
Leafs forward Kyle Clifford was been assessed a 5 minute major and a game misconduct penalty for an absolutely brutal hit from behind on Lightning forward Ross Colton.
Check it out:
What are you doing, Clifford!? That's a textbook dirty hit that will get you tossed 10 times out of 10. Just an absolutely boneheaded play by the Leafs forward.
As you might imagine, Clifford is scheduled to meet with NHL Player Safety later today according to NHL insider Nick Kypreos.
If I had to guess, I'd imagine that Clifford is likely looking at a one game suspension. Thoughts, Leafs fans?
