It might be the offseason for the Oilers’ forward, but he’s keeping busy off the ice…

The season may be over for Oilers’ Evander Kane, but the veteran forward is keeping busy in Edmonton, helping others. On Tuesday night, Kane himself posted pictures of a gathering he took part of in order to assist his dear friend Cecily Eklund, who is battling brain cancer, to create “a fun day for her dear friend Cosmo.” The kid appears to also be battling cancer and Eklund is part of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, helping other children like her dealing with cancer. Kane has been doing his best to help his friend Cecily on her mission, and the pictures he posted were trending all over on social media.
You may remember Cecily as the poor girl was spit and sworn at when she attended the fourth contest of the first round series against the Kings in Los Angeles. Kane took to social media to call out the fans that took part in the unacceptable incident. Several Kings’ fans were outraged that the poor child went through this ordeal and chose to support Cecily and her fight against cancer by posting Cecily’s Stollery donation page online and encouraged others to donate.
It’s great to see that away from the Oilers and the action of the season, Kane is still helping Cecily and others to make a difference in Edmonton. Especially with several previous reports on Kane's poor reputation, his gambling saga and the ongoing brutal custody battle with his estranged wife.
