Prior to the game between the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night, the two teams celebrated the life of Colby Cave with a touching ceremony.
Cave’s widow, Emily Cave, participated in the ceremonial puck drop, hugging Boston captain Patrice Bergeron and Edmonton captain Connor McDavid before and after. It was an emotional night for her.
As she made her way back to the tunnel, she hugged each Bruins player on her way off the ice. She shared a long embrace with Brad Marchand, who appeared emotional.
Marchand took the time to speak with Emily and shared a class-act moment with the widow.
As you may remember, Colby Cave, who played for the Bruins and Oilers, died April 11, 2020, four days after he had surgery to remove a colloid cyst that was causing pressure on his brain. He was just 25.
The move shouldn't surprise anyone Emily Cave said herself on her Instagram:
