Chris Tanev blocks a shot with his face, spits out mouthful of teeth!

The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting the New York Islanders for a chill New Year's Eve afternoon game today.

You know how the Holidays are... people's minds are elsewhere, they're putting in minimal effort and just trying to enjoy the company of friends and family.

Well... evidently no one told Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev to chill.

The veteran blueliner is, of course, notorious for his shot blocking prowess but today he took things to a new level. He blocked a shot... with his face. The result was a mouthful of bloody chiclets that he spit out into his hand... all while he skated off the ice on his own power.

Imagine any other professional athlete handling things that well? A soccer or basketball player would literally be calling for an ambulance. Meanwhile, Tanev shakes it off and heads to the bench for a water break. What a warrior.
