Chris Snow speaks for the first time since being placed on a ventilator.

A huge update on the Flames aGM.

Things were looking bleak for Calgary Flames assistant general manager Chris Snow this week when it was announced that his health had deteriorated considerably and that he had been placed on a ventilator. Chris has been struggling through a long battle with ALS and as hockey fans who recently marked the passing of Borje Salming will know all too well, it is a horrific disease that medical science has so far been unable to cure.

Thankfully on Saturday we received a bit of good news from Chris' wife, Kelsie Snow, who revealed that he had woken up. It was the first good sign since learning of Chris' deteriorating health, and it was only the beginning of the good news.

On Sunday, Kelsie had another update for those who have been keeping tabs on Chris' health and once again the news was very positive. Kelsie revealed that her husband had been taken off of the ventilator and was once again breathing on his own, with Chris once again defying the odds.

In spite of his horrible ordeal, Chris demonstrated what a warrior he was when he was taken off the ventilator and he was able to speak, uttering his first words since the ordeal began.

"I did it," said Chris as per Kelsie.

Chris has consistently defied the odds, after being diagnosed with ALS 3 years ago he was only given one year to live but has far surpassed that original diagnosis. Hopefully he continues to defy those odds.
