Chris Pronger explains why former athletes go broke!
The former Norris Trophy winner laid it all out on social media.
It's not secret that there are plenty of professional athletes that simply aren't good with money. As good as their skills are on the field of play, the management of their finances is, at best, amateurish.
There are few former NHL athletes who know better about having sudden fame and fortune than Chris Pronger. As one of the most feared and punishing defensemen ever to play the game, Pronger suited up for a handful of teams during his career, winning the Stanley Cup in 2007 while also earning an estimated $111 million over the course of appearing in 1,167 career games.
Pronger took to social media today to explain his take on why so many professional athletes run into financial troubles later in life, and it's certainly worth looking at. Pronger also explained that he intends on sharing several of the stories that he has that fans would love to hear.
