Chris Kreider taken out of Rangers lineup on Sunday.
Chris Kreider will not be in the lineup for the New York Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
Things somehow keep getting worse and worse for the New York Rangers.
On Sunday, fresh off of a loss to the Metropolitan Division leading Washington Capitals on Saturday night, the Rangers announced that one of their top forwards will be out of the lineup today as he deals with an injury. That forward is none other than veteran Rangers forward Chris Kreider, a player that has been the subject of rampant trade speculation in recent weeks.
The injury is described as an upper body injury and Kreider is being considered day to day at this time, hopefully that is an indication that there is nothing too serious at play here.
Kreider was one of the players specifically believed to be on the trading block alongside former Rangers captain Jacob Trouba, who has since been traded to the Anaheim Ducks, so there will no doubt be some who believe that a trade involving Kreider is on the horizon as a result of this move. To be clear there has been no indication of anything other than an injury here, but only time will tell.
Kreider, like many of his fellow Rangers, is having a bit of a down year this season with 13 goals and 2 assists for a total of 15 points over the first 34 games of the season. Over that stretch Kreider boasts a plus minus rating of -8 and there have been many who have wondered if Kreider's game has been negatively impacted by all of the drama surround the team this season.
Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
