Carson Soucy to face suspension for cross-check on McDavid.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety is coming down on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy.

It sounds like the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety will be coming down on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is now reporting that Soucy will in fact face a hearing for the cross-check he delivered to the face of Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid following the conclusion of Game 3 on Sunday. The incident occurred at the end of the game, after the final horn had blown, which I believe is a significant contributing factor in why Soucy is now facing supplemental discipline.

A cross-check delivered by Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov at the exact same moment is what appears to cause the cross-check from Soucy to strike McDavid up high, but it seems the Department of Player Safety still feels that additional discipline is warranted in this case.

Here's a look at the replay of the incident in question:

If Soucy is indeed suspended here I suspect it will be a relatively minor one given the circumstances, likely a one game type of ban.

Stay tuned for more details on this developing story.
