In case you missed it this past weekend, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price released a statement on social media opposing Bill C-21 in Canada, a Bill proposed by Justin Trudeau's Liberal party that will see many hunting rifles and shotguns banned in the country.

Price, like many Canadians, disagrees with the bill feels that it will not have the intended effect that the Liberals are seeking. Trudeau and the Liberal government have proposed the Bill as a way to decrease gun violence in Canada, while many others disagree. Admittedly, I'm not well educated on the bill and what it does and doesn't include, but from the little bit of understanding I have it seems like a misguided Bill by the Liberals. I believe that most of the guns included in the Bill are run of the mill hunting guns and not those used on the streets by criminals and gang members.

In any case, here's Price's post from this past weekend:

I love my family, I love my country and I care for my neighbour. I am not a criminal or a threat to society. What @justinpjtrudeau is trying to do is unjust. I support the @ccfr_ccdaf to keep my hunting tools. Thank you for listening to my opinion.

Seems reasonable, right?

Wrong!

This is the Internet after all, so you can bet your ass that people were outraged.

Specifically though, some fans were angered with Price's support for the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights. In a recent promotion the CCFR used the promo code "poly" for a 10% off discount, a disgusting jab at the largest shooting massacre in Canadian history when anti-feminist Marc Lepine murdered 14 people at Montreal's École Polytechnique.

Why the CCFR would use that promo code I have no clue. Are they celebrating a mass murder? Seems like a weird flex...

In any case, Price has clarified his statement for detractors and has also stated that he had no clue about the promo code.

Check it out:

Good on Price for standing up for his convictions. Again, I'm not fully educated on this subject so I wouldn't make a personal judgement on Price based on the little information I have. But... well... that doesn't stop most people these days. They see something and if they don't like it, they'll let you know about it.
