Canes’ Pesce avoids suspension for dangerous move on Wings’ Fabbri!
The NHL gets it wrong…again! Fans are outraged!

We shouldn’t be surprised by this, however, this one remains quite disturbing. Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce has avoided suspension for the dangerous move he pulled during Thursday night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. He was instead just fined $5,000 for a dangerous trip on forward Robby Fabbri, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced.
The blue liner was assessed a two-minute minor for tripping on the play, while Fabbri avoided injury. But it could have been worse, no doubt.
Pesce waited to head towards the bench before tripping Fabbri with the clear intent of putting him down and hurting him.
You can tell in the videos below that Fabbri was not expected to be served a dangerous slew foot. Check it out:
Pesce had never received supplemental discipline over 371 prior NHL games, which could explain why he was not suspended this time.
So far this season with the Hurricanes, Pesce has put up three goals and 13 points over 18 games while ranking second on the Hurricanes in blocked shots (28) and third in average ice time (22:32).
