Canadiens share a devastating, late-night, update on Arber Xhekaj.

Canadiens drop some bad news late last night.

In a season that has largely been a forgettable one for fans of the Montreal Canadiens. Canadiens rookie defenseman Arber Xhekaj exploded onto the scene and often times gave those same fans a reason to cheer night in and night out.

There's no question that the 22 year old rookie defenseman has been a highlight of the season for many of those fans but unfortunately, late last night, those fans learned that the fun has officially ended.

In a very late night update on Saturday night, the Canadiens announced that Xhekaj would be shut down for the remainder of the 2022-23 National Hockey League regular season. The Canadiens revealed that Xhekaj would be undergoing season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, a procedure that will be done by Dr. Peter J. Millett in Denver, Colorado. That procedure is scheduled for next week, although the Canadiens did not share any specific details on when that might take place.

What we do know is that this will keep Xhekaj out until at least training camp for next season, and you can bet that his return will be a highly anticipated one in the city of Montreal.
