A scary scene took place in Laval, near Montreal on Friday night as the Canadiens’ AHL farm club, the Rockets, took on the Belleville Senators.

Forward Xavier Simoneau, who was selected in the sixth round in last year’s draft by the Habs, was hit by a stick in the defensive zone and fell down on the ice during the second period. He appeared to be unconscious as trainers rushed to him. They got him on a stretcher and took on many precautions to take him out of the Place Bell.

According to the in-house host Anthony Marcotte, in a fluke accident, Simoneau was hit in the face by the stick of Joel Teasdale. The wound is close to his eye.

Many French-speaking reporters were on scene and shared some images and updates on the incident.

Minutes after the incident took place and Simoneau was stretchered off the ice, the Rocket announced that he was being transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

We wish Simoneau all the best. In 22 games this season in Laval, Simoneau has collected four goals and 18 points in total.
