Frank Seravalli is adamant that Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is an elite player. A franchise player. The insider notes that Kane’s trophy case is full and how important of a player he’s been not only in Chicago, but also in the National Hockey League.

It means sense that he is one of the most coveted trade baits on the market ahead of the March 3rd deadline.

However, Seravalli still wonders if Kane will be moved and puts up a buyer beware warnings that could pour cold water on some suitors that were looking into the possibility of a monster trade to acquire Kane for a long playoff run. Here is how he explains it:

“Kane has been a play-driving winger his entire career, capable of powering that line no matter who he is playing with. No matter who Chicago has rolled out with Kane, he has produced in a big way. This season that hasn’t been the case. Linemates Max Domi and Andreas Athanasiou have been having mini-revival seasons in Chicago. And Kane has certainly played with worse players. He has also not been very lucky. With multiple seasons shooting north of 16 percent, the career 11.5 percent shooter is scoring at a rate of half that this year (six percent).”

Seravalli also hints at Kane’s latest nagging injuries, stating that “watching his shifts closely, you can see that he isn’t quite 100 percent.”

On top of that, Seravalli mentions the mental toll on Kane as a potential move out of the only franchise he’s played for could be too much for the veteran forward.

“Kane has been woven into the fabric of Chicago since 2007. There will be statues of Kane and Jonathan Toews outside the United Center one day and his jersey hanging in the rafters. Kane’s family has made the move to Chicago from Buffalo, they’re all rooted there. His dad is frequent visitor at morning skates, practices and even road games. Leaving all of that behind and heading into the unknown of another uniform and another city can weigh any player down, preventing him from being at his absolute best night in and night out.”

Seravalli knows how good on a player Kane is and will also be known as. However, a trade out of Chicago might not be what he thinks is best for the superstar. Though Seravalli lists different potential landing spots of Kane, including the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils, he kicks off his list of potential fits with none other than… the Blackhawks.

Do you know Kane, who holds a full ‘no-trade’ clause, will accept to move as we reach the trade deadline?
