The latest on injured Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is not good.
On Saturday morning, Sheldon Keefe confirmed the worst when it comes to Robertson when he revealed that Robertson would miss at least the next six to eight weeks of action as a result of a shoulder injury suffered earlier this week.
Things may get worse from there however given that Robertson has opted to avoid surgery if possible, meaning that he will begin to rehab the injury naturally instead of going under the knife. Should that fail however, he could then be forced to go the surgery route which could potentially further extend his recovery time.
Robertson was injured during Thursday's contest against the Los Angeles Kings when a big hit from Kings defenseman Matt Roy sent him awkwardly into the boards, with Robertson's shoulder seemingly taking the worst of it.
Here's a look at the hit that led to the injury:
And another angle:
Roberson has had a relatively slow start to his career and there's no question that injuries have thus far been a contributing factor. This appears to be another major injury hurdle for Robertson who had only appeared in 15 games for the Maple Leafs so far this season.
