Bruins lose David Krejci to injury.
Head coach Jim Montgomery confirms the news.
Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has spoken to the media ahead of tonight's game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights and unfortunately Montgomery had some bad news to share about one of the Bruins' top forwards.
Montgomery confirmed that Krejci, who took a shot off the leg on Friday night against the Arizona Coyotes, would not participate in tonight's game against the Golden Knights due to an injury.
"He's day to day but he's not ready to go today," said Montgomery when queried about Krejci's status.
Montgomery was asked whether or not this could potentially turn into an extended absence for Krejci and he seemed to dismiss that idea completely, indicating that he expects Krejci to be back in the Bruins' lineup in short order.
"We think it's just day to day, we do expect him to play Tuesday," said Montgomery. "It's just a lower body [injury] that needs a little bit more time when you're 36."
The timing of Krejci's injury is unfortunate for the Bruins who are no doubt hoping to get a measure of revenge on the Golden Knights this evening after the Knights, led by former Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, took a win off them on home ice at TD Garden this past Monday. Nonetheless, Montgomery indicated that he expects a hard fought game this evening given that the two teams have some recent familiarity with one another.
"It makes it a little more like the playoffs because you're a little more familiar with them," admitted Montgomery. "I think it's a little more of an intense game because of that."
