Yep, Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark his having himself a career year admits the rest of his team running away with the best record in the National Hockey League.
As of right now, Ullmark boasts a sparkling record of 32-4-1 with a 1.89 goals against average, .938 save percentage along with two shutouts. Oh, and there was also the matter of his having become the first goalie in the near century-long history of the Bruins to score a goal.
How could he top that? Why, by setting another team record, of course! During last night's victory at the Scotiabank Saddledome over the host Calgary Flames, Ullmark turned aside 54 Flames shots, setting the new franchise-record for saves in a single game. The record was previously held by Tim Thomas, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy during Boston's most recent Stanley Cup victory in 2011.
And yeah, Ullmark is having fun along the way!
“What should I say? It was a lot of fun. You never really wanna get up to almost 60 shots in a game but you know what? I’ll take it,” said Ullmark to NESN following the game. “Get two points and we’re going to go home with a four-game road trip win streak and love it.”
The Bruins are back home in the friendly confines of TD Garden tomorrow night against Ullmark's former team, the Buffalo Sabres.
