Bruins CEO updates fans on Jeremy Swayman's future
The Bruins goaltender has yet to be signed to a new contract.
The Linus Ullmark era with the Boston Bruins came to a close this offseason, as he was dealt to the division rival Ottawa Senators in a trade that landed them Joonas Korpisalo in return. With the trade, the Bruins made it clear that Jeremy Swayman was their main man moving forward.
There's only one problem - he's still yet to be signed to a new contract. A restricted free agent, neither he nor the Bruins decided to go to salary arbitration, but it won't be long before Training Camp is set to open. Fans are naturally curious when a contract will get worked out.
According to Bruins Chief Executive Officer and Alternate Governor Charlie Jacobs, negotiations are ongoing and he's confident that a new deal will be on the horizon in short order.
"I try not to comment on player personnel contract negotiations. We are still negotiating with Sway," Jacobs explained said on Gresh & Fauria, via NESN. "I hope that he's ready to play come training camp. We have some things to work out. I'm sure we'll get there."
Swayman racked up a record of 25-10-8 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage during the regular season, and was given the starting responsibility during all but one of their postseason matchups.
