Bruce Cassidy roasts his players after an ugly performance in Game 5.

The head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights was not happy with his team's performance on Saturday.

There have been a number of instances in these Stanley Cup playoffs where a coach who comes out on the losing end of a game hasn't had much to say given the fact that his team offered up a stellar performance in spite of the loss, Saturday night was not one such case.

In spite of the fact that the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights battled in what was a tightly contested game on the scoreboard up until the latter stages of the third period, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy was not at all pleased with what he saw coming out of his team on Saturday night.

Following the game Cassidy made no effort to spare the feelings of the players in the Golden Knights locker room when he suggested the effort they put out on Saturday night wouldn't have been enough to defeat the lowly Arizona Coyotes.

"We have 24 giveaways," said a frustrated Cassidy. "I'm not sure you're beating the Arizona Coyotes in January with 24 giveaways."

In fact the only players whose feelings Cassidy seemed to be concerned about where those of the Coyotes players he may have offended with his comment. Cassidy tried to claim there was no disrespect intended with his comment, but we all know why he picked the Coyotes rather than any other team in the league.

"That's no disrespect to Arizona, but it's not the right way to play," added Cassidy.

Unfortunately for the Golden Knights they won't be playing the Arizona Coyotes in Game 6 on Monday, and they will need a better effort if they wish to send the Stars packing and avoid a Game 7.
