The Vancouver Canucks remain the National Hockey League's only winless squad so far during the young 2022-23 NHL season that has seen more than enough material to make their fans want to tear the hear out of their heads. The Canucks have already made history by becoming the 1st team to ever lose their first four games after having held a two goal lead in each of them.
It's certainly a shocking turn of events for the Canucks, who brought aboard veteran bench boss Bruce Boudreau after terminating the maligned Travis Greene last season; upon Boudreau's firing, the team played well enough to have earned a postseason spot had they continued the pace they enjoyed.
For Boudreau, he's certainly seen the ups and downs of playing and coaching in the NHL, but Vancouver's struggles seem almost inexplicable. Could his team already be doing the unthinkable and considering a coaching change so soon after rewarding him with a multi-year contract extension for his efforts last season?
If they are, he's not worried about it.
“Why are we going there? I’m not worried about anything,” he stressed. “I’m just doing my job. I’ve worked without a safety net before and I’m going to come to work until they tell me not to.”
He continued: "We just come to work and do our job every day. If you look at practice, they’re spirited and upbeat about everything and that this (losing streak) is going to eventually end and we’ll get on the right track again.”
The Canucks will have a chance to get into the win column when they take on their new Pacific Northwest rival Seattle Kraken tomorrow night from Climate Pledge Arena in downtown Seattle. Can the Canucks finally get that elusive first victory of the season?
