In the second period of the do or die Game 4 of the Eastern conference final, the Carolina Hurricanes managed to tie things up 2-2 against the Florida Panthers.
However, they have already lost a lot.
In the first period, defenseman Jaccob Slavin was crushed behind his own net by Sam Bennett. Slavin backed out while he was falling to the ice, slamming his head against the board and then on the ice.
He is out for the remainder of the game, and Stefan Noesen for also missing for some time. It was then announced he would not return to tonight’s game due to an upper-body injury.
In the second period, another Canes’ player fell to injury, thanks this time to his own teammate. Forward Martin Necas needed to be helped off the ice and down to the room after getting hit in the leg by a shot from Brent Burns.
Necas appeared to get hit by a point shot right below the knee. He was helped straight down the tunnel to the dressing room by trainers.
Moments later, the Panthers took part the lead with Ryan Lomberg putting Florida back in front, with probably poor Necas hearing the crowd’s celebrations from the trainers’ room…
That's probably what prompted him to return quickly to the Hurricanes' bench.
