Brawl erupts on the ice during Teddy Bear Toss.
A charity event was interrupted by a wild brawl on the ice in a truly unique hockey moment.
The Ontario Hockey League has provided us with a truly unique hockey moment, one that I'm not sure has ever occurred on the ice before and one that quite honestly may never be replicated again in the future.
On Sunday night, during a game between the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts and Ottawa 67's, a brawl erupted on the ice after the first goal of the game. Now that in and of itself is certainly not unheard of, but this was no ordinary game and that was no ordinary goal.
As has become tradition for many teams in our sport around this time of year, this was a special "Teddy Bear Toss" game, one in which fans are encouraged and expected to rain stuffed animals down on the ice after the first goal of the game for a good cause. The stuffed animals are then donated to children in need during the holidays, which makes for a really fun event that contributes to a wonderful cause.
Unfortunately that holiday spirit didn't extend to the players on the ice in this scenario and what resulted was a brawl on the ice as the teddy bears came raining down, making it a truly bizarre and quite frankly hilarious sight to behold.
The officials on the ice did their best to try and get the players to stop the fighting, but there was simply too much chaos happening all at once which resulted in several players brawling and throwing punches while surrounded by stuffed animals.
