The Toronto Maple Leafs and their very loyal fanbase were likely having flashbacks to the Nick Foligno trade when it was announced that recently acquired forward Ryan O'Reilly had suffered a serious injury, but thankfully this does not look like it will be a repeat of that catastrophic deal for the Leafs.

On Monday, head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update on his injured forward and the news was overwhelmingly positive with Keefe indicating that he expects O'Reilly to return to the ice in short order. To be clear O'Reilly isn't cleared to play by any stretch of the imagination, but he is expected to resume skating sometime this week.

"He has not skated yet, but it's imminent," revealed Keefe as per Leafs reporter Terry Koshan. "He has been in every day and doing what he needs to do to get ready. I was told he was expected on skates this week."

O'Reilly was off to a solid start as a Maple Leaf, producing at a much better rate than he had this season as a member of the St. Louis Blues in terms of point production. While he was averaging just .475 points per game with the Blues, his 3 goals and 2 assists for a total of 5 points in his 8 games as a Maple Leafs amount to .625 points per game.
