AEW Wrestler CM Punk takes a shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

AEW star CM Punk was in Toronto on Saturday night and he took a not-so subtle jab at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

AEW wrestler CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, has been known as a superfan of the Chicago Blackhawks for quite some time now, and he can often be seen discussing the sport of hockey either in interviews or on his personal social media accounts.

For that reason it should come as no surprise that the subject of hockey came up when Punk was performing in Toronto on Saturday night, although Punk likely didn't win over many fans from the area with his comments.

Although Punk made no mention of the hometown team during the televisioned portion of the show, when the cameras stopped rolling he touched on the subject of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now it shouldn't be surprising to see  Punk take some shots at an opposing team given his love for the Blackhawks, but it was clear that the fans in attendance were not having any of it.

"As the team captain I take full responsibility for the loss," said Punk while being showered with boos from the crowd. "But I want you all to know, even though I lose sometimes, I'm gonna keep on coming back and fighting just like your Toronto Maple Leafs."

The mention of the Leafs was enough to solicit some cheers from the crowd, although many continued to boo, but Punk's' change in tone when making mention of the Leafs made it clear, from my perspective at least, that he wasn't being charitable towards the hometown team.
