6 NHL teams scouting Evander Kane.

Kane drawing attention from around the league.

In spite of the fact that he has claimed the plan was not for him to play in the American Hockey League, controversial National Hockey League forward Evander Kane is set to do just that. Unlike your typical game in the AHL however, this one is drawing a lot of eyeballs from teams in the NHL.

According to a report from San Jose Sharks beat writer Curtis Pashelka, a total of 6 teams are in attendance tonight to watch Evander Kane show off his particular set of skills. Those teams are the Boston Bruins, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Nashville Predators, the Detroit Red Wings, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Dallas Stars.

The Boston Bruins have been actively working on a trade involving veteran forward Jake DeBrusk, who has made his desire to be traded clear, so perhaps their interest in Kane lies in a potential top 6 type of replacement in the event that they do pull the trigger on a DeBrusk trade.

The Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins find themselves in somewhat of a similar situation with both of those teams currently absent a top forward in their lineup. Earlier today the Maple Leafs placed forward Mitch Marner on long term injured reserve and in the case of the Penguins we have yet to see Evgeni Malkin hit the ice this season.

The Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators have the cap space to make the move, something that would seemingly put them in a very advantageous position here, but there are of course other factors to consider when it comes to Evander Kane.

It is no secret that Kane has rubbed members of the San Jose Sharks locker room the wrong way, and many speculate that the Sharks do not want him back in that locker room for this very reason. This has seemingly been a constant problem for Evander Kane who famously got on the wrong side of his Winnipeg Jets teammates in the past, leading to a trade from that team as well as one of the most hilarious images in recent hockey history.

Kane has obvious talent, but whether or not a team can keep him in check and maintain team chemistry with him on their roster remains to be seen.
