3 teams already linked to Jeremy Swayman amidst trade rumours and ugly contract dispute!

The idea of a possible trade has been discussed and this has led to teams being mentioned as landing spots for the goalie.

While the Boston Bruins remain optimistic that they will sign RFA goaltender Jeremy Swayman to a contract sooner rather than later, the rumour mill is in full spin after the netminder’s agent flat out called Cam Neely a liar after the team president insinuated that the club had offered his client a $64 million contract.

As he mentioned the words “where we go from here”, it did not take long for trade rumours to surface and now Ryan Dixon of Sportsnet has put together a list of three teams that could come calling the Bruins if the whole contract dispute leads to a trade.

Dixon lists the Vegas Golden Knights, the Utah Hockey Club and the Chicago Blackhawks as teams he sees very interested in Swayman and asked the very important question:

Is there an offer out there Boston can’t refuse?

Swayman and the Bruins have been deadlocked in a highly publicized contract dispute and with the regular season around the corner, the clock keeps ticking. Both sides have until Dec. 1 to come to an agreement or else Swayman will remain inactive for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

On Wednesday morning, insider Elliotte Friedman reported how he believes at first Swayman was seeking “around 9, high 8’s” on his AAV, and claimed how he doubts the goalie will accept the latest offer spoken about when Neely mentioned the $64 million contract.

When it comes to the three interested teams by Dixon, he immediately explains how Vegas would need to find a way to be cap compliant with Swayman on board, though as we all know and the reporter writes: “the Golden Knights have navigated those waters before.”

As for the newest franchise in the league, Dixon wonders if Utah “could offer up either Karel Vejmelka or Connor Ingram as puckstoppers who could form a tandem with Korpisalo.”

The Blackhawks are looking to quickly rebuild the roster around Connor Bedard and could use a star goalie for a fast track. Dixon names prospects as potential baits to strike a deal with Boston in young defencemen Kevin Korchinski and Artyom Levshunov or the likes of Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore and Lukas Reichel.

This is all pure speculation at this time, but this is feeding into the madness of this ongoing contract saga in Boston. As Dixon concludes this is “a glimpse into what could happen should trade be the business Boston and Swayman choose.”
