2 NHL mascots get into a fight during MLB game on Saturday.

A pair of NHL mascots were not getting along in the stands and unfortunately things turned physical.

There may be no National Hockey League games being broadcast right now, but somehow we are still managing to get some NHL fights on our televisions.

On Saturday, during a clash between Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets a pair of NHL mascots would briefly take over the broadcast with a rather strange altercation in the stands.

Now I presume of course that this was something of a bizarre effort to promote both the New Jersey Devils and the New York Islanders franchises, but I'm not entirely sure that this promotional effort hit the mark.

The altercation was between the Devils mascot, the New Jersey Devil, and the Islanders mascot, Sparky the Dragon, and it began with both mascots talking a little trash and pointing at one another. Eventually the talking would end however and the two would collide, with the fight involving a few gentle-looking slaps and a whole lot of hugging.

The MLB broadcast casually noted that, "that's what hockey guys do" and I've got to say there were pretty spot on in their analysis.

Here's a look at the video:
