Tampa Bay Lightning captain and star forward Steven Stamkos is known as one of the league's most prolific goal scorers. Since the start of his career, the former first overall pick has averaged just over a point per game and scored 35 goals or more on five occasions, including a season of 60 goals. But that doesn't mean he can't drop the gloves once in a while.

The 28-year-old Canadian forward decided to fight Montreal Canadiens' defenseman Karl Alzner, who had just laid a hit on Nikita Kucherov. It is important to mention the latter was nowhere near the puck when he got hit. Take a look at this amazing scrap:

Here's Alzner's hit on Kucherov:

Okay, Stammer. Nice try. But according to these Twitter users, he should stick to scoring goals...

Or perhaps he should ask his teammate Victor Hedman for advice. Just a few minutes after, the 6-foot-6, 223-pound defenseman also dropped the gloves, but agaisnt a much shorter opponent: 5-foot-9, 181-pound forward Brendan Gallagher. I think it is fair to say this one was a bit more exciting for the fans:

The Lightning and the Canadiens have both scored a goal during the first period.
