Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Garret Sparks has been rewarded for his outstanding play in the AHL for the month of January! The 24-year-old goaltender registered a 5-0-0-1 in January, posting two shutouts and allowing only six goals in six games.

During that sequence, Sparks registered a .98 goals against-average and a .966 save percentage.

Drafted 190th by the Maple Leafs in 2011, Sparks has a record of 17-6-1 in 25 starts in the AHL so far this season, with a 1.60 goals against-average (first in the AHL) and a .944 save percentage (also first in the league). He's leading the AHL in shutouts with already four this season, and is currently second for the most wins.

Sparks played 17 games with the Leafs in 2015-2016, posting a record of 6-9-1 with a 3.02 goals against-average and a .893 save percentage. He registered a shutout in his NHL debut against the Edmonton Oilers on November 30th, 2015.

After his first game in the NHL, he gave a pretty emotional post-game interview!
