Former Montreal Canadiens head coach Jacques Demers, who suffered from a stroke back in April 2016, made a surprise visit to the Bell Center this afternoon. We had the opportunity to witness a very emotional moment when the last head coach to win a Stanley Cup in Montreal got a standing ovation during the first period.

While it is impossible to say if Demers' presence gave a boost to the Canadiens, it is fair to say the Habs played one of their best game in a long time. They recorded a 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, who are currently ranked third in the Pacific division.

Backup goaltender Antti Niemi was stellar, and made 43 saves while defenseman Jeff Petry scored twice to give the Canadiens the edge. The team snapped a three-game losing streak.

It is important to mention that Jonathan Drouin got hit in the back during the second period, and left the game instantly. He was spotted leaving the Bell Center in street clothes, and headed straight to the hospital to get x-rays. Head coach Claude Julien gave an important update on Drouin's status:
