Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin became only the fourth player in NHL history to score 25 or more goals in his first 13 seasons. He joined Jaromir Jagr (17 seasons), Mike Gartner (15 seasons) and Wayne Gretzky (13 seasons). On Tuesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, he scored two goals, his 25th and 26th, helping his team to win 5-4 in overtime. Ovechkin tied the game with his first goal of the game, and scored his second goal of the game in overtime.

Ovechkin, 32, was drafted first overall by the Capitals in 2004. He played in 962 games in the NHL so far, scoring 584 goals and adding 494 assists for 1078 points. He added 90 points in 97 playoff games.

This season, the Russian forward has 26 goals and 17 assists for 43 points in 41 games.
