Jack Johnson finds the back of his own net and ends the shutout for Tristan Jarry.

Unfortunately for much maligned Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Jack Johnson this might be the lowlight of the 2019 National Hockey League preseason thus far.

Johnson and his Penguins were facing off against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night and through the first period of play Penguins backup goaltender Tristan Jarry was pitching a shutout again the Red Wings. Unfortunately for Jarry his shutout would end in rather ugly fashion thanks to a sloppy play from the aforementioned Jack Johnson deep in his own end. 

The Red Wings were on the attack early in the second period and after Jarry was unable to control the rebound on a hard shot from the point, there was a loose puck in the crease in front of him. Luckily for Jarry it was his defenseman that would get there first, but instead of safely clearing the puck away from the net, Johnson would bury it in the back of the Penguins net with a little help from Penguins forward Anthony Mantha. Johnson had a chance to clear the puck, but when he saw Mantha threatening to strip him of it he instead moved the puck to his backhand. Mantha then pushed Johnson's stick with his own and outmuscled the Penguins defender, effectively forcing him to put the puck in the back of his own net. 

It was an ugly play from a player that has received a ton of criticism since joining the ranks of the Penguins organization, and as a result it has drawn a ton of criticism and mockery from fans on social media in spite of this happening in a preseason game.
